Our mid-September update focuses on this month’s roadmap goal: category-specific content gate settings! Check out the full update below and reach out to us via Freshdesk if you have any questions or feedback. You can also check out past Lede platform updates.
SPOTLIGHT: Category-specific Content Gate Override Settings
- It is now possible to adjust the registration wall and paywall settings on a per-category basis, if desired. These category-specific settings change a user’s experience of the registration wall and/or paywall for posts within the configured category, replacing the default registration wall and/or paywall appearance and behavior.

- Note: The help article also includes example use cases for when/why you might want to set up these category-specific overrides on your site.

New Analytics Collector: Beacon
- Earlier this month, we launched Beacon, an in-house realtime analytics collection system that tracks pageviews, subscription purchase flows, newsletter signups, and other behavioral events that we use to bring you analytics and insights into your customers’ journeys and what drives conversions. As of today (9/15/23), we will be decommissioning our Snowplow collector and migrating the data we’ve collected with Snowplow to the new Beacon format. This will let us move faster and more nimbly to iterate on the platform’s business intelligence features – including launching a dashboard that will give you on-demand access to your analytics data.
Bug Fixes
- Known Issues– Lede v2 is currently under regular development. This is a list of known issues and limitations of the platform, as of 9/15/23. If you encounter an issue not on the list, including any issues with individual subscribers, please contact us via Freshdesk.
- A user’s premium newsletter preferences are no longer being overridden when their subscription renews. (i.e. If a user has opted out of receiving a premium newsletter, they will no longer be opted back into receiving the newsletter when their subscription renews).
- Automatically inserted in-article Google Ad slots at the halfway point of articles no longer cause the last block of content to not display.
- When a user’s subscription renews, a grace period of six hours has been added to ensure they do not unexpectedly lose their expected site access/entitlements. This will also help to prevent potential duplicate subscriptions from occurring.
