Our mid-May update is focused on new registration wall and paywall settings that allow you to make these walls dismissible to help drive growth (both of your email lists and your subscriptions!). We’ve also cleaned up RSS feeds and added additional security to the donate/tip-jar flows. Check out the full update below. You can also check out past Lede platform updates.
Feature Spotlight: Dismissible Registration Wall & Paywall
- The available Registration Wall & Paywall settings have been expanded to allow additional configurability for when and how users are prompted to provide their email addresses and purchase a subscription. Check out this link for all the details on how to configure this for your site.
Ad Campaign
- The “dek” field for ad campaigns now displays in all locations on mobile.
Donate/Tip Jar
- As an enhanced security measure, email registration is now required in order for a user to use the /donate and /tip-jar pages.
Homepage
- Made an initial improvement to how cropped images are displayed in the Featured Post Grid.
Posts
- iFrames embedded within posts using the HTML block now allow popups.
RSS Feeds
- Featured images are now included in RSS feeds.
- If a dek is available for an article, it is now used in the RSS feed, else the excerpt field is used.
Lede Knowledge Base
- The Lede knowledge base is moving! All help articles currently hosted in Circle will be moving to Freshdesk.
- At the same time, Freshdesk will also be replacing Zendesk as the Lede platform’s ticketing tool.
- By moving to Freshdesk, we can consolidate our help center into a single tool, saving you time and clicks. Freshdesk will even suggest relevant help articles from the knowledge base while you type out a ticket.
- We will make an official announcement and provide you with a link to your new help center when it’s time to move. Keep an eye out!
Bug Fixes
- Known Issues – Lede is currently under regular development. This is a list of known issues and limitations of the platform as of 5/16/23. If you encounter an issue not on the list, including any issues with individual subscribers, please submit a ticket.
- The “Subscribe” button no longer remains after an existing registered user has purchased a new subscription.
- Fixed the “Content-Type” header for RSS feeds which was preventing some RSS readers from reading the feed.
