Lede Platform Updates: End of January 2024

Our end of January update focuses on a variety of updates across the platform: from UX improvements to new logo options to coupon codes, and more! Check out the full update below and reach out to us via Freshdesk if you have any questions or feedback. You can also check out past Lede platform updates.

Coupon Codes

  • Promotional pricing has now been extended to allow for coupon-driven promotions. This new feature makes discounted pricing available only to new subscribers who have a valid coupon code, as opposed to all new subscribers who visit your Products page. There is a new “Got a coupon to use?” field on your Products page for this purpose.
    • As a reminder, promotions are still set up by the Lede team at this time – contact us via Freshdesk if you want to run a coupon-code (or standard) promotion.

Global Header Styles: New Logo Options

  • The Global Header Styles available in Lede > Brand Appearance, have been expanded to allow for:
    • Centered Logo: You can now choose to center your logo in your Global Header, instead of having it left aligned (default option).
      • Note: On mobile, a centered logo will become left aligned to allow for a balanced display on smaller screens.
    • Banner Logo Size: For logos that have an aspect ratio of 6:1 or greater, or width/height is greater than or equal to 6, a new larger sizing option “Banner” is now available.
      • Note: Regardless of which logo size you choose, make sure to remove any excess padding from your logo file to ensure it displays in the full space allotted.

Paywall & Registration Wall

  • The Registration Wall & Paywall Settings have a new option available called “Blocks to Preview”. When a user reaches the hard registration wall or paywall (i.e. they can no longer dismiss it if you have the dismissible wall option turned on), this is the number of blocks in an article that a user can view before they are required to provide their email address (registration wall) or subscribe (paywall).
    • By default, users can view two blocks (blocks are the components added to articles that are typically comprised of paragraphs, images, and other media).
    • This option is also available on the Category-Specific Content Gate Overrides.
    • Consider adjusting this setting to reduce or increase how much content is shown to users.

SendGrid

UX Improvements

  • Row & Stack Blocks: Row & stack blocks, which are variants of the “Group” block, now display as expected on the front-end of your site.
  • Post Card Spacing Adjustments: Adjustments were made to the spacing of various blocks (Featured Post, Post Grid, Featured Topic, Post River) on your Homepage to clean up alignment and readability.
  • Featured Topics Block: The Featured Topics block no longer displays the Category “eyebrow”, as this information was often redundant with the heading of the block.
  • Updated Bluesky & Twitter/X Icons: The icons for Bluesky and Twitter/X have been updated everywhere they display on your site.

Freshdesk Update

  • Troubleshooting Common Login & Subscription IssuesFAQ to help your end users with common issues they might encounter. Consider adding this information directly to your site so your users can attempt to help themselves when they run into these common issues.

Bug Fixes

  • Known Issues– Lede v2 is currently under regular development. This is a list of known issues and limitations of the platform, as of 1/29/24. If you encounter an issue not on the list, including any issues with individual subscribers, please contact us via Freshdesk.
  • On Android phones, the dark mode setting a user sets is now properly remembered, regardless of their system settings.
