Lede Platform Update: End of March 2023

We have several new customization options available for your homepage and global header, along with an improvement to the newsletter signup flow, and a handful of bug fixes.

Homepage

  • “Featured Posts” Block: A new featured posts configuration is now available for your homepage – allowing you to prominently feature seven stories in the block.
    • Add the “Featured Posts” block via the + Block Inserter.
    • Curate posts for any of the locations and move posts around as you would in the Post Grid. Non-curated spots will be backfilled with a reverse chron of posts.
    • Adjust the header text and color as desired for your brand.

  • “Featured Topic” Block: A new topics block is also now available for your homepage – allowing you to feature four posts from a specific category or tag.
    • Add the “Featured Topic” block via the + Block Inserter.
    • Select a Layout for the block:
      • Horizontal: Two posts with medium-sized images side by side, next to two posts with small-sized images stacked on top of each other.
      • Vertical: One post with a medium-sized image, stacked on top of three posts with no images.
    • Select the category or tag to feature from the Term Selector field.
    • Note: There is no curation for this block – all spots will be backfilled with a reverse chron of posts from the selected category or tag.
  • Add the “Featured Topic” block via the + Block Inserter.
  • Select a Layout for the block:
    • Horizontal: Two posts with medium-sized images side by side, next to two posts with small-sized images stacked on top of each other.
    • Vertical: One post with a medium-sized image, stacked on top of three posts with no images.

  • Select the category or tag to feature from the Term Selector field.

  • “Post Grid” Block: When there are 3 or more authors on a post in this block, the author avatars no longer display.

Global Header Options

  • Access via the WordPress Admin Dashboard > Lede > Brand Appearance > Global Header Styles
  • “Background Color” options for your global header have been expanded to be consistent with main menu color options.
  • “Button Color” options are now available to change the button color in the global header & main menu. Button text color is always white.
  • “Border Color” options are now available to change the border color in your global header if the default or border “Header Decoration” is in use.

Purchase Flow

  • Copy added on the purchase and modify confirmation pages to inform users to stay tuned to their inbox if they purchased or upgraded to a product with any additional perks.

Newsletter Signup Flow

  • After signing up for a newsletter and verifying their email, a user is now redirected to the “Your Newsletters” section of their My Account page.

My Account

  • Commenting fields (username and avatar upload) are now only available if a user has commenting privileges.

SendGrid

  • If a user cancels their subscription, metadata for the cancellation occurring (order canceled = true) and date of cancellation is now available in SendGrid.

Lede Knowledge Base

Bug Fixes

  • If a user cancels their subscription and it is no longer active, their My Account page now properly reflects this.
  • Line breaks in block quotes now display as expected.
  • Links in list blocks open in a new tab as expected.
  • On mobile, the main menu no longer pops up behind the registration/login wall.
